Grain Grading Schools
Normally offered three to four times annually in Summer
OABA's Grain Grading School – approved by the Ohio Department of Agriculture – is a three-hour course that will provide training in the procedures for grading corn, soybeans and wheat, as well as sampling and equipment. Instruction is provided by Eurofins Grain Inspection.
The Ohio Commodity Handler Law requires all individuals who perform a quality test for the purpose of applying a premium or discount on commodities to be trained and hold a commodity tester number from the State of Ohio. New and renewing commodity testers must fulfill continuing education requirements once every five years (beginning in 2025) to renew their Commodity Tester Number.
Per recent legislative changes: A Commodity Tester Number will be issued by the Ohio Department of Agriculture to those who complete the continuing education requirement of a three-hour approved training. Please note, the certificate renewal period is changing from three-years to five-years beginning in 2025. Current certificate holders with certificates expiring 9/30/2025, will complete the three-hour training for a renewal of five years (expiring 9/30/2030).
If you have questions or need additional information, please reach out to OABA at 614-326-7520 or info@oaba.net.
