Henney Testifies Before Joint Agriculture Committee During Senate Bill 1 Review

On June 5, the Senate Agriculture Committee and House Agriculture and Rural Development Committee met to review Senate Bill 1 of the 131st General Assembly, which bans the application of manure or fertilizer on frozen, snow-covered or saturated ground.

SB 1 was signed into law three years ago and, as part of that legislation, requires the General Assembly to review the legislation after three years. A variety of agricultural and environmental groups were invited to share testimony on the impact SB 1 has had on the industry.

OABA was proud to share the achievement of Ohio’s agribusinesses, including progress made through the 4R Nutrient Stewardship Certification Program, as well as current research that shows nutrient application levels are declining with advances in technology.
