The Achievement as an Emerging Leader Award is presented to an individual that represents the spirit of leadership as a growing agribusiness professional. Leadership is often difficult to define in everyday business activities, but it remains an important ability to cultivate. The 2018 award recipient is Andrew Gladden of Elmore, Ohio.

Gladden, IT Director for Luckey Farmers, Inc. in Woodville, Ohio, is responsible for network infrastructure and technology for the company’s 11 branch locations. In his role, Gladden pushed for change in technology to revolutionize his company’s way of doing business while staying true to its mission and values.

“Andrew has been a breath of fresh air for the organization,” said Andy Swerlein, president and CEO of Luckey Farmers. “He’s taken our organization from being behind the curve in technology to being ahead of the curve.

The Excellence in Safety & Stewardship Award is presented to an individual that demonstrates safety and stewardship in day-to-day activities and interactions with customers, encouraging others to put safety first and be good stewards of equipment and land. The 2018 award recipient is Anne Cook of Swanton, Ohio.

Cook, EHS Manager for The Andersons, Inc. in Maumee, Ohio, is the leader of the team that is responsible for all safety and environmental related aspects for the company’s Plant Nutrient Group (PNG). Through her leadership, Cook has trained employees to embrace behavioral-based safety, a style that looks at how an employee thinks about doing certain acts and ensuring they’re done in a safe manner.

“Anne has always embraced safety as a key goal for not only the plant nutrient group but for The Andersons in general,” said Bill Wolf, past president of PNG at The Andersons. “She’s one of those individuals that really and truly owns safety and the accountability of having a safe work force and environment.”
