OABA Submits Comments on Proposed DOL Overtime Rule

The Ohio AgriBusiness Association submitted comments to the U.S. Department of Labor opposing its proposed rule regarding overtime wages. The new rule would increase the standard salary level for the exemption from minimum wage and overtime pay for executive, administrative, professional, outside sales and computer employees, and raise the salary threshold from $23,660 to $50,440 annually.

OABA voiced concerns on the impact the rule would have on agribusinesses, especially small businesses that would have greater difficulty adjusting to increased labor costs. The rule would put small businesses at a disadvantage and will have a significant impact on their ability to maintain competitiveness in the market.
