After much discussion and work over the previous year, the Ohio Department of Agriculture and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources have developed draft legislation that they believe will help to address agricultural nutrient runoff challenges in Ohio.
“There aren’t any real surprises in the legislation, but we need to look at the details to ensure it aligns with what we expected the legislation would be,” said Chris Henney, Ohio AgriBusiness Association President and CEO.
The draft legislation was just shared with us the end of last week, and the OABA Public Policy Committee is in the process of reviewing the legislation. The association will provide feedback before the public comment period ends on April 5.
“This is the first step in a long legislative and regulatory process,” Henney said. “We will certainly inform and engage the membership as necessary throughout this process.”
