There are numerous scholarship opportunities available to college students interested in the pork industry.
The Ohio Pork Producers Council will be offering up to $8,000 in scholarships, ranging from $500 to $1,000 per individual. Applicants may be a sophomore, junior or senior in college whose parents are actively involved in a 365-day swine operation. This includes children of swine managers, employees and contract growers. The Ohio Pork Council Women will also be offering $500 scholarships to college students in their junior year or higher.
To obtain a scholarship application for both of these scholarships, go to industry.ohiopork.org/. Applications for OPPC & OPCW scholarships are due April 19.
The Ohio Pork Producers Council is proud to sponsor scholarships for incoming freshmen attending The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute. Students entering ATI and pursing a degree in swine production should indicate so on their admission form, scholarships will then be issued accordingly. The Northeast Ohio Pork Producers Council also provides sponsorship for scholarships to any student involved in livestock production.
