Senior Commodity and Grain Merchandiser

CHS Member Cooperative in North Central Illinois

CHS Aligned Solutions is partnering with a member cooperative in North Central Illinois near Freeport to hire a Senior Commodity and Grain Merchandiser at a growing facility. Applicants should have outstanding customer service skills, have prior experience in feed and grain merchandising as well as experience in logistics management.

Position Overview:

The Senior Commodity and Grain Merchandiser is required to oversee and coordinate the purchase, storage, handling, and marketing of all grain transactions for the department’s trade area in a manner that will optimize the cooperative’s market share and savings, improve the cooperative’s efficiency, help achieve the cooperative’s mission and goals, and result in outstanding customer service.

Supervision, safety and maintenance, recordkeeping, merchandising, grain origination profitability and sales
Responsible for truck/rail transportation and logistics from origin to destination
Accurately maintain records, including a consolidated daily position record and grain related records as well as developing and maintaining a working knowledge of grain industry requirements
Will be responsible for accounts receivable of feed commodity accounts and will uphold and enforce the cooperative’s credit policy
Prospect for new customers and maintain strong relationships with existing customers
Develop and implement programs and merchandising tools to establish the cooperative as customers preferred choice.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in grain marketing, origination and/or merchandising
Ability to work with computers and marketing software
Knowledge of agriculture and cooperatives
Possess excellent communication and sales skills
