OABA Educational Trust
OABA provides scholarships to students in agribusiness through its Educational Trust and the Greenleaf Agri-Industry Award.
The Ohio AgriBusiness Association Educational Trust was formed September 1, 1993, as a public charity under Section 501c (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Members of our industry were concerned with the noticeable lack of quality people seeking career opportunities in agribusiness. Many were being lured away because of available scholarship assistance in closely related fields. The leaders of OABA felt we needed to aggressively compete for the talents of people by creating a sound and durable scholarship program.
Value of the Scholarships
Scholarship values vary with the institution, program and individual and may be used for tuition, fees, and textbooks. Presently, scholarships range from $500 to $2,900 for a given acdemic year. Scholarships are awarded for a one year period.
Scholarship Eligibility
The purpose of OABA scholarships is to assist students pursuing a curriculum which will help prepare them for a career in agribusiness. Awards are based on perceived potential in the agribusiness industry using past and current grade point averages and extracurricular activities and awards as the primary criteria for selection. They are not based on financial need.
Eligibility requirements are:
- Must be majoring in an agribusiness curriculum, approved by the Ohio AgriBusiness Association, at a participating college
- Must have completed a minimum of one semester or quarter
- Must have a minimum overall grade point average of 2.5 of 4.0
- Must be a full-time student (enrolled for 12 or more credit hours)
Note: Items 1. and 4. must be maintained during the entire semester(s) or quarter(s) for which the scholarship is awarded or it may be revoked and deemed refundable.
