Sustaining Sponsor Spotlight: CHS Inc.

CHS Inc., a leading global agribusiness, is owned by farmers, ranchers and cooperatives across the United States. CHS supplies energy, grain marketing services, food and food ingredients, crop nutrients and animal feed, in addition to business solutions including insurance, financial and risk management services. The company also operates petroleum refineries and manufactures, markets and distributes Cenex® brand refined fuels, lubricants, propane and renewable energy products.

Started in 1929, CHS traces its roots to the formation of its first regional cooperative. As Cenex began to acquire grain and energy assets in the 1950s, the cooperative network continued to grow. Soon after, the company entered the animal feed and plant food businesses. Cenex and Harvest States united in 1998 to form an integrated food system, which adopted the name CHS in 2003.

The largest farmer-owned cooperative in the United States, CHS is owned by over 1,100 cooperatives, 75,000 producers and 20,000 preferred stockholders. The company has over 10,000 employees, including 1,000 in international locations. CHS has 30 employees in Ohio and operates more than 30 crop nutrient distribution facilities in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan and Kentucky. CHS ranks number 62 on the Fortune 100 list.
