Global Standards S.C. is Named Accredited Certification Body for FSMA

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has  announced that an additional certification body (CB) has been accredited under the FDA’s Accredited Third-Party Certification Program.

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has accredited Global Standards S.C. for the following scopes: Produce Safety, Preventive Controls for Human Food (PCHF), Juice Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Seafood HACCP.

This accreditation gives Global Standards S.C. the authority to conduct food safety audits and issue food and facility certifications under FDA’s Accredited Third-Party Certification Program, established in accordance with the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act.

Certifications issued through this program can be used by importers to establish eligibility for participation in the Voluntary Qualified Importer Program (VQIP), which offers expedited review of food entering the U.S.  In some cases, this certification may be required by the FDA for foods offered for import to the U.S.

To date, eight certification bodies have been accredited under FDA’s Accredited Third-Party Certification Program.
