TFI Hosts Meeting of Geographies Pursuing 4R Certification

Junedcmeetgroup

This week representatives for Ohio, Indiana, Minnesota, New York, Missouri, Florida and Canada (on behalf of Ontario) met at The Fertilizer Institute offices in Washington D.C. for a facilitated discussion to advance the 4R Nutrient Stewardship Certification Programs within their geographies. The meeting provided an opportunity to learn from each other’s efforts and to gain insight into developing a governance structure across the entities to ensure program consistency. Ontario recently launched their program and New York will launch in August. Other states are working on fertilizer recommendations to include within the certification standard and pursuing pilot efforts to evaluate certification with individual retailers or in critical geographies. Andrew Allman, Mark Sunderman and Anne Cook represented the Nutrient Stewardship Council at the meeting, providing resources from Ohio's four years of experience with the 4R Certification Program.
