LegReception2017-01

More than 150 Ohio agribusiness leaders, legislators and legislative aides gathered at the Ohio Statehouse March 14 to discuss the impact and importance of the state’s agribusinesses during the Ohio AgriBusiness Association’s second Legislative Reception.

“Agriculture is Ohio’s No. 1 industry, generating $105 billion annually,” said OABA Chairman Andy Swerlein, who is also president and CEO of Luckey Farmers, Inc. “This event provided an opportunity to highlight our industry’s impact directly with key policymakers and stakeholders, including House and Senate leadership.”

LegReception2017-02OABA represents more than 250 member companies and continuously advocates for the industry’s growth in Ohio. More than 65 members made the trip to Columbus to share their own stories in relation to agribusiness policies and reinforce OABA efforts at the Statehouse. The event provided an opportunity for legislators to learn more about the agriculture industry and OABA member companies.

“We had nice participation from the General Assembly and solid commitment from our members to support OABA’s mission of advocating for Ohio agribusiness,” said Chris Henney, OABA president and CEO. “We’re seeing many good relationships take root as OABA members, including executives from across Ohio’s agribusiness industry, and legislators network with and learn from one another to work toward a common good for our industry and the people of Ohio.”
