Facility Maintenance/Warehouse Agronomy

Deerfield Ag Services is a family owned, full-service agricultural services provider with one agronomy and four grain locations located throughout Northeast Ohio, and is looking for the cream of the crop to join their rapidly growing team as a Facility Maintenance/Warehouse Agronomy member. The Deerfield Ag Services team of agronomist and applicators work with farmers to develop cropping plans, counseling, field scouting, sales and service make up our team.

Job Purpose: This position is responsible for ensuring the warehouse is efficient, accurate and fulfilling customer orders in a timely manner. The following duties and responsibilities reflect the essential functions of the position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Warehouse

  • Maintain a neat and orderly warehouse, making best use of space and ensuring the most effective flow.
  • Load or unload inbound and outbound trucks
  • Receive and manage crop protection product inventory and bulk inventory receive/manage bulk chemical inventory
  • Follow SOPs in inventory management for mini-bulks, mini-bulk shuttles, pumps and all equipment
  • Receive and make sure labels are up to date and accurate (product=label)
  • service/maintain mini-bulk shuttle pumps and bulk tank pumps
  • Coordinate and stage products to be loaded out
  • Stage and help load products as needed
  • Work with nurse drivers to maintain pumps and plumbing on the trucks
  • Work with nurse drivers to verify accuracy of load paperwork.
  • Load trailers and/or delivery truck
  • Coordinate Nurse and Tender Drivers
  • Perform physical count of inventory as stated in SOP
  • Coordinate inventory levels and re-order quantities
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication among all departments to ensure satisfaction. Providing customer satisfaction.
  • Understanding and have working knowledge of all products in the warehouse

Service Tech

  • Be able to work with electrical motors, repair, trouble shoot, and install
  • Work with liquid material handling
  • Able to read and understand flow diagrams
  • Work with plumbing, plumbing valves, and perform basic repairs.
  • Knowledge of grain dryers a plus Administrative
  • Customer Service back-up
  • Indirectly oversee part time help, ensuring cost and time effectiveness.
  • Be willing to work in other areas when needed
  • Purchasing Agent
  • Maintain buildings and grounds
  • Process improvement, project lists
  • Ensure all employees follow proper safety procedures in the warehouse.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Intermediate PC skills; Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships
  • Mechanical aptitude, welding, wiring, plumbing
  • Self-drive, customer services experience
  • Inventory control
  • Working with chemicals
  • Customer service oriented, detail minded, self-motivated
  • Calm personality that works well under pressure
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Mechanical ability; problem solving skills
  • Arithmetic – ability to add & subtract in head
  • Use of calculator
  • Working knowledge of fertilizer bin capacities and facility layout
  • Understand administrative procedures and systems, manage files and records
  • Truck driving, farm equipment and /or mechanical experience helpful
  • Tow motor license (may obtain after hire)
  • Class A CDL license helpful, but not required.

Hours: Generally, day shift with some Saturdays and Sundays required between April and August
