Agronomist

Witmer's Feed & Grain, Inc. in Columbiana, Ohio

This position is responsible for sales activities of Witmer’s Feed & Grain agronomy products within an assigned territory. This individual will be responsible for making recommendations and sales of fertilizer, chemicals, seed and custom application.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with the ability to work on their own or with fellow salesmen. Experience selling specialty value added plant nutrition products, a strong agronomy background, and a solid understanding of plant nutrition is preferred for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Retain and grow the Witmer’s Feed & Grain agronomy customer base
  • Establish sustainable relationships with suppliers and growers/end-users
  • Actively employ a customer segmentation strategy to execute customer development activities required to achieve growth targets, increase revenue and maximize margin
  • Utilize communication tools to improve grower awareness of products and services.
  • Develop and execution of agronomy educational programs for customers & suppliers
  • Consistently meets or exceeds sales objectives in line with company financial objectives.
  • Develop, implement, update and report on sales and marketing plans
  • Implement and promote marketing programs/incentives for Witmer’s agronomy products
  • Identify and provide feedback on product improvement and new product development opportunities consistent with customer needs
  • Provide market intelligence from within the sales area
  • Assist in planning and forecasting product movement to plan for customer demand
  • Comfortable with using Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Perform all duties with the highest level of integrity
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Agronomy
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven success as a sales agronomist is preferred
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales objectives as a sales agronomist for high value specialty products
  • Demonstrated superior territory sales and management skills and expertise
  • Has consistently developed and executed plans to maximize sales potential
