Enviromental Compliance Manager

Heritage Cooperative is a member-owned cooperative dating back to 1919. Heritage's Safety and Compliance division is seeking a driven individual to join their team an Environmental Compliance Manager.

Objective: The Environmental Compliance Manager is responsible for making sure environmental laws for air quality, waters of the state, hazardous waste, noise, and certain areas of hazardous substance transportation are adhered to within all facets of Heritage Cooperative business and operations.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance for environmental health regulations, environmental management systems, and projects.
  • Protect organization assets and reputation through effective mitigation of environmental exposures.
  • Perform environmental compliance audits and implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Implement environmental management systems and programs for company.
  • Complete and submit applications for air quality (DAPC), storm water (NPDES & SWPP) to appropriate regulatory entities.
  • Complete and submit periodic reports to appropriate regulatory agencies as required. Including but not limited to: SERC/SARA Title III; Ohio EPA; US EPA; County LEPC’s; Local FD’s; Pesticide Repackaging Reports; Ohio Dept. of Agriculture; US Coast Guard; etc.)
  • Develop and maintain communication relationships with various environmental regulatory agencies.
  • Direct the development, implementation and maintenance of environmental safety programs in accordance with EPA, DOT and other States & Federal. Regulation.
  • Collaborate with managers, executives, and employees to identify problems, develop improvements, create and maintain environmental standards and requirements.
  • Develop, implement and monitor policies, procedures and programs designed to minimize exposures.
  • Serve as liaison with federal, state and local authorities in matters related to hazardous materials, environmental safety and risk management; ensures compliance with governmental regulations.
  • Ensure that emergency action preparedness plans are developed and communicated to all personnel.
  • Determine whether environmental needs are met (e.g., training, personal protective equipment, and corrective measures including non-mandated items.
  • Function as a liaison for Vendor Partnerships (emergency response).
  • Recommend best practices related to Environmental, Health and Safety.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to Environmental Science or other related field.
  • Five years of increasingly responsible professional experience in environmental risk management, liability insurance and regulatory reporting.
  • CECM certification preferred.
