Executive Assistant

The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation is seeking a highly qualified candidate to serve as executive assistant in the Communications Department. Candidates will need to perform a broad variety of administrative duties that include staff and board business travel, event planning, committee meetings and minute taking and department financial reports. The ideal individual will exercise good judgement, possess strong written and verbal communication, administrative and organization skills and have experience with non-profit and membership organizations with three years as an executive assistant and a working knowledge of the agricultural industry. Primary Duties:

  1. Provide support to the Vice President of Communications and general support to the communications department.
  2. Possess excellent computer skills/aptitude for word processing (Word), database (Access, iMIS), spreadsheet (Excel) and presentation (PowerPoint).
  3. Maintain media contact/news release distribution database.
  4. Assist with data management and processing oversight of direct mail membership solicitations.
  5. Make arrangements for meetings, keep accurate records and coordinate department activities, reports, files and schedules.
  6. Anticipate deadlines and projects that require staff planning and preparation.
  7. Maintain various spreadsheets/databases to assist supervisor/communications team including expense/income record keeping and others.
  8. Prepare minutes during board committee meetings.
  9. Act as a liaison between department and outside office contacts including fielding media calls.
  10. Coordinate all OFBF staff and board flight reservations and other travel arrangements as requested.
  11. Serve as on site meeting coordinator for OFBF members attending AFBF annual meeting.

Additional Duties:

  • Assisting as needed with all aspects of Town Hall Ohio radio scheduling and production.
  • Provide support to print services as needed.
  • Other assignments as assigned.

Minimum Educational Experience Qualifications

  • High School graduate or GED with experience working in an office environment.

Minimum Skill Qualifications

  • Microsoft office experience.
  • Effective communications skills both oral and written.
  • Self starter – dependable, punctual, team player.
  • Able to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Three (3) years as an Executive Assistant

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Internet search functions and website maintenance.
  • Ability to produce PowerPoint and other graphic-based presentations and reports.
  • 2-year administrative program degree
  • Understanding of agricultural industry
  • Experience as a travel coordinator or agent
